Patent No. 9,367,095 recently granted to Apple describes an iPhone that has a transparent body with a display that wraps completely around the device. This augments the display on the front of the device with a full display on the back.
To prevent the need to have the entire display running all the time, face tracking sensors would determine where the user is looking and only activate the appropriate display. For some applications the entire wraparound display could be used to display large images all around the iPhone.
To take full advantage of the display around the iPhone the drawings show all buttons and controls moved to the bottom of the phone.
