With the release of Best Buy’s Black Friday ad, the big three of the shopping holiday — including Target and Walmart — have now seen their deals revealed. Thus far, they are the only three with deals on the Apple iPad, though their other specials are similar to preceding ads for PCs and tablets. But the sheer breadth of Best Buy’s offers outstrips the competition.
Like Target, Best Buy has savings on the iPad Pro and Air 2, though the offers are slightly different. Whereas Target takes $150 off the base 9.7-inch Pro, and $125 off the base Air 2, Best Buy is slicing the price on all versions of both tablets by $125. In other words, you’ll save $25 more buying the base iPad Pro at Target, but if you want any other configuration, only Best Buy (thus far) is advertising savings. Unlike Target and Walmart, Best Buy doesn’t appear to have any versions of iPad mini discounted for Black Friday.
Best Buy joins a bunch of other retailers in selling the Amazon Kindle Fire 7-inch tablet for $33.33 — a price Amazon itself will no doubt match, if not better in the coming days. It also has the Fire HD 8 on sale for $59.99, a much better deal than Staples promises on a similar version.
In addition to the Samsung Galaxy Tab specials we’ve been seeing everywhere, Best Buy also has a Surface Pro 4 deal on its base configuration (Intel Core m3/4GB/128GB): $599.99, which includes the Signature Cover Type that’s a $160 add-on.
When it comes to laptops, the electronics chain matches Dell with a $100 notebook deal of its own. The Windows-running Lenovo 100S comes with an Intel Atom processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of solid-state storage, and 11.6-inch display and is $100 off the current price. Best Buy has the same Samsung Chromebook 3 on sale as Walmart, but at $139, it’s $20 more expensive.
Two other laptop deals under $200: the HP 15-ba009dx with AMD A6 processor, 4 gigs of RAM, 500GB hard drive, and 15.6-inch display for $169.99, and the Acer R 11 convertible Chromebook with Intel Celeron N3060 CPU, 4GB of memory, 16GB of built-in storage, and a 11.6-inch touchscreen with 360-degree swivel hinge for $199.
Best Buy has plenty of other 2-in-1 laptops in its Black Friday ad. These range from the $349.99 HP Pavilion x360 with Intel Core i3 processor, 6GB of RAM, 500GB hard drive, and 13.3-inch touchscreen to the $699.99 Lenovo Yoga 900 with Core i7, 8GB of RAM, 256GB solid-state drive, and 13.3-inch touchscreen to the $1,099.99 Asus Q534UX with Core i7, 16GB of RAM, a 2TB hard drive and 512GB solid-state drive, and a 4k 15.6-inch touchscreen.
One other notable aspect of Best Buy’s laptop deals is that they include savings on Apple’s MacBook and MacBook Air (though not the controversial new MacBook Pro), the first we’ve seen this Black Friday. The electronics chain is lopping $200 off the price of certain MacBook configurations — the ad doesn’t specify which ones, however — as well as a pair of MacBook Air models.
The base 13-inch Air with Core i5, 8GB of memory, and 128GB of solid-state storage will be $799.99, while the step-up edition with twice as much storage will run $999.99. (The latter appears to be a Black Friday 8 a.m. doorbuster price, whereas it’s unclear if the cheaper Air is a doorbuster or not.)
Best Buy extends its Apple deals to iMac all-in-one desktops as well. It’s slicing $200 off the price of the base 21.5-inch iMac (Core i5/8GB/1TB), down to $899.99, along with a similar discount off the bigger 27-inch iMac with 5k screen (faster Core i5/8GB/1TB), $1,599.99 for the weekend.
If you’d prefer a Windows all-in-one, the retailer also has you covered, with HP systems like the 24-g014 (Core i3/8GB/1TB/23.8-inch full HD touchscreen) for $449.99 and the Pavilion 24-b114 (Core i5/12GB/2TB/23.8-inch full HD touchscreen) for $749.99.
Even PC gamers are covered by Best Buy’s ad. It has deals on three gaming desktops: the $599.99 CyberPowerPC Gamer Ultra Desktop (AMD FX-8350/8GB/1TB/AMD Radeon RX 480 graphics card), the $979.99 iBuyPower BB921 (Core i7/16GB/1TB and 120GB SSD/Nvidia GeForce GTX 1060 graphics card), and the $1,649.99 CyberPowerPC Gamer Supreme (Core i7/32GB/3TB and 480GB SSD/GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card).
There are also a pair of specials on gaming laptops, the HP Omen with Core i7, 8GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive and 128GB SSD, GeForce GTX 960M graphics, and 15.6-inch full HD display for $849.99, and the 15.6-inch MSI GE62VR Apache Pro-086 for Core i7, 16GB of RAM, 1TB hard drive and 256GB SSD, and GeForce GTX 1060 graphics for $1,249.99.
