When the Mekong Delta in Vietnam floods every year, farmers take their boats out and spend days harvesting water lilies. Photographer Trung Huy Pham has captured a series of beautiful overhead photos of the harvest that feature its mesmerizing patterns and colors.
For generations, women have been taking small boats out onto the water in the Long An and An Giang provinces to harvest the lilies for use in things like tea and decor.
The annual harvest is a popular subject for photographers, and numerous international prizes have been awarded to resulting images. Pham himself was shortlisted at the prestigious 2020 Sony World Photography Awards in the Travel (Open) category for this photo:
