Photographers are slaves to their batteries—batteries for cameras, batteries for flashes, even the battery inside your smartphone with all its useful photography-related apps. That’s why this new, rechargeable battery breakthrough from some researchers at UC Irvine has us so excited.
There’s an ongoing debate about how much is too much when it comes to post-processing landscape images. But if you’re okay with taking a subtle sunset shot and completely transforming it in Lightroom, this tutorial is one of the most comprehensive step-by-step guides we’ve seen.
I started reading about how to become a professional wedding photographer some time in late 2010. Whether it was on DWF, POTN or Whirlpool, the same advice was being recycled.
Never give away your RAW files
But why?
This is not a new story: a musician shared a photographer’s image without permission or credit on Instagram. But rapper Danny Brown didn’t stop there. When asked politely to give credit, he responded with anger, profanity, and vitriol.
Nothing like a bit of surprise weaponry and armor to transform a romantic photoshoot into something else entirely. That’s what happened to Alex of Alexandria Photography when, in the middle of a romantic engagement shoot, she and her clients were photobombed by an enthusiastic group of LARPers!
Shepard Fairey has spent the past few years fighting a messy legal battle with photographer Mannie Garcia and the Associated Press over his use of a portrait of Obama his iconic HOPE poster. He has raked in …
When snapping pictures of wild animals in the great outdoors, there are some animals that photographers generally know to be careful around. These include creatures that are massive (e.g. moose, elephants), anything at the top of the food chain (e.g. lions, tigers, bears), and anything venomous (e.g. snakes). Well, you might also want to add the beaver to that mental list of yours.

The Citizens Advertising Takeover Service (AKA C.A.T.S.) just launched a funny, ridiculous Kickstarter campaign that seeks to do something awesome: they want to replace every single ad in a London Tube station with pictures of cats.
Editor’s note: This is a piece by photographers Bryan Formhals and Blake Andrews on how famous photographers’ styles are copied over and over again. Please do not read or comment if you take things too seriously.
The other day while reading the Internet I came across “The 10 Most Harmful Novels for Aspiring Writers.” I wondered whether there could be a list for photographers as well. I thought about it and then sent my list to Blake Andrews to see if he wanted to contribute and have some fun with it. Here’s what we came up with.
