Supreme Court rejects Google appeal in class action lawsuit from advertisers

The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal from Google to throw out a class action lawsuit from California advertisers.

Those advertisers are alleging that by not informing them that ads purchased through the company’s AdWords program might appear on error pages and parked domains, Google misled them about where their ads would be placed, and they’re seeking a refund on their payments.

The suit was filed back in 2008, and covers advertising run between 2004 and 2008. A federal judge denied the advertisers class action status back in 2012, but that decision was reversed by a federal appeals court. By declining to hear the case, the Supreme Court is basically allowing the case to move forward as a class action suit.

Update: A Google spokesperson said the company does not comment on pending litigation.
